Professional Registration
The piece of legislation that affects all health practitioners in New Zealand is The Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCAA).
Every health practitioner who practises in a regulated profession in New Zealand must be registered with the relevant responsible authority and hold an Annual Practising Certificate (APC) issued by that authority.

Psychotherapy has recently been accepted for regulation by the Minister of Health, and a regulatory authority is in the process of being established. |
Registration can take up to 6 months (sometimes more), and is often a requirement for your application to Immigration to have the right to work in New Zealand.
Counties Manukau District Health Board is prepared to make a conditional offer of employment to health practitioners if they are likely to be successful in their application for Registration with the relevant authority.
