When people are returning to the Health environment, they often feel nervous or have worries about their skills still being applicable - at CMDHB it doesn’t matter if your practicing certificate has lapsed, we’ll sort it out for you.

Nursing
Counties Manukau DHB offers a 'Return to Nursing Practice (Competency programme)' in partnership with Manukau Institute of Technology. This is an 8 week programme which involves study days and clinical placements. Usually this is run full-time, however a part-time option for the clinical placements is now available on request.
This programme has been designed for New Zealand Registered Nurses who have had a break of over 5 years from nursing and who are required by Nursing Council to provide evidence of meeting the Registered Nurse competencies. (If you have been out of Nursing for less than 5 years and don't have a current practising certificate then we can provide a competency programme as per Nursing Council direction).
At times, Counties Manukau DHB may have scholarship opportunities for New Zealand educated Nurses (criteria apply). We support a work-life balance philosophy and have excellent crèche facilities on site at Middlemore Hospital.
At the moment we do not have any Return to Nursing opportunities, however please do visit our website regularly as this may change. For more information about the Return to Nursing (Competency programme) please navigate to Manukau Institute of Technology website.
