Relocation Assistance

At CMDHB we understand that moving to another country can be daunting. That’s why we have a dedicated Candidate Care Consultant in our Recruitment Team to welcome you to CMDHB and help you settle in Auckland.

Upon arrival in Auckland, we will be happy to meet you and show you around the local area to assist you to find your bearings, and answer any questions that you may have. Before your first day at work in CMDHB, we will arrange for you to attend re-employment occupational health screening at Middlemore Hospital and if possible, meet with your manager for a quick tour of the ward/department where you will be based.

We recommend you bring your overseas cell phone with you and buy a SIM card here in NZ at a minimal cost – this will prove a useful way of contacting you when you first get here. Remember to find out from your current mobile network provider if you can ‘unlock’ your mobile phone before you leave for New Zealand.

Relocation Package/Bonding Scheme

We understand that relocating to another country can be financially straining. To help with that, CMDHB may offer you a relocation contribution, which comes with a service bond. This contribution is intended to assist you with your relocation and may not cover all the expenses you incur in your move here.

How it works...

You pay for costs incurred in moving to Auckland, and keep all receipts of expenses you would like to claim against your relocation contribution. Only the following four expenses may be reimbursed (up to your agreed relocation contribution amount), unless otherwise specified in your Service Bond Agreement
One-way economy airfare from your city of residence (when the job offer was made) to Auckland; for new employee only
Shipping of personal effects, excluding pets/motor vehicles
Temporary accommodation in Auckland for up to 4 weeks
Temporary car hire for up to 4 weeks

For you to receive the reimbursement, you must present the relevant original receipts to the Candidate Care Consultant for processing within 6 months of commencement of employment at CMDHB. You will receive the reimbursement along with your next salary, ie only after commencement of employment with CMDHB. Unfortunately we do not have the mechanism to reimburse you by cash, immediately upon arrival.
