The Recruitment Process
The Recruitment Centre at CMDHB recruits for many exciting positions, at all levels across the DHB. Our team is committed to making the job application as easy as possible for you, and ensuring that you are kept fully informed about the status of your application throughout the process.
If at any stage you have any enquiries, or you would like to give us some feedback, please either call 0800 562785 or email recruitment@middlemore.co.nz
Please apply (Where Possible) – online through the vacancies page on this website.
Our preference is for all applications to be submitted on-line as specified in our job adverts. Unless absolutely necessary, we discourage you from posting or faxing your application to us, as this may result in unnecessary delays. We have kept the on-line application system simple, asking only that you answer a few straightforward questions and submit, with your answers, your covering letter and CV. This ensures that your application is stored in our system, is linked to the job for which you are applying, and is immediately visible to our recruitment consultant.
You’ll be sent a confirmation email as soon as your application is received, and in addition you will be able to benefit from being a part of our Counties Manukau talent pool and have the choice of receiving job alerts that match your profile in the future.
By applying to vacancies listed on this website, you can keep track of your application at any time by logging in and checking the status of your application.
Phone Screening
If you meet our initial criteria you may be contacted for a phone screening interview. This is the best time for you to ask questions and with the recruitment consultant, to determine your suitability for the position. If interest and suitability match, the next stage is for the consultant to present your background and skills to the hiring managers in our organisation.
Face-to-Face Interview
Successful applicants will be asked to attend a face-to-face interview with the hiring managers. You may also be required to attend a second interview – to meet other managers, or perhaps those in peer roles. All of these are excellent opportunities for you to evaluate the position on offer – and the DHB as a prospective employer. From time-to-time we also run assessment centres and workshops. If applicable, you will be fully informed beforehand. We welcome whaanau support throughout the recruitment process.
Behavioural interviewing
We use Behavioural Interviewing techniques. This means that we would like you to answer all of our questions by giving real examples of where you have done things in the past.
For example, we may ask you – “Tell us about a time when you went the extra mile to help someone at work….”
You may answer “When I worked at……I…….”
Please always come back to real examples of times when you have done what the question asks.
Further Requirements
All successful applicants need to undergo occupational health and safety clearance prior to commencement and occasionally a pre-employment medical check. All new staff are also required to undergo criminal vetting checks. It is also possible that you may be asked to undergo psychometric testing.
References
You must be able to provide us with at least two recent, acceptable and contactable referees.
Identification
When you present at interview please bring with you photo identification such as driver's licence or passport.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand
When you present for interview, if you are not a NZ citizen, please bring with you your passport showing your eligibility to work in New Zealand (Work permit or Residency permit).
The Offer
If your application is successful, we will in the first instance make you a verbal offer of employment. Should you accept, the hiring manager will send you a Letter of Offer and Contract for you to review and sign. Additional paperwork supporting your on-boarding will be issued to you. It is imperative that you sign and return all of this in a timely manner.
We look forward to (hopefully) welcoming you to our community team.
