Professional development
Professional development is an important part of CMDHB. All staff are encouraged to take up professional development activities offered internally and/or externally which may be discussed directly with managers or through CMDHB’s dedicated career services.
Health and Support Services
Staff members at CMDHB have access to a number of health and support services and facilities. These include medical and wellness services such as breast screening, smoking cessation, flu vaccinations and massage clinics and support services such as chaplaincy and the EAP programme.
CMDHB Library
Staff also have access to the CMDHB Library to support their work, professional development and personal interests. The Library includes a large collection of health-related monographs and serials for staff use as well as 24/7 access to a substantial number of online health databases. For light relief the Library also has a small collection of fiction material.
Carparking and Transport
CMDHB staff have access to free carparking (at Lambie Drive, Manukau and Botany SuperClinics™, Pukekohe and Papakura Hospitals) and subsidised carparking at Middlemore Hospital.
A shuttle bus service is available between the Manukau SuperClinic™ and Middlemore Hospital.
Staff also have access to CMDHB Carpool cars for CMDHB business purposes.
Middlemore Hospital is also a key stop for train services from Auckland Central and South.

Middlemore onsite services are available to staff including banking, pharmacy, florist and childcare services.

Social Activities
Socially staff are invited to take part in CMDHB-wide or endorsed events such as the annual Spring Dine and Dance, and the Round the Bays and Sir Barry Curtis Fun Runs.
Staff and their families may also register for the use of three holiday properties in Whangarei, Pauanui and Rotorua through the South Auckland Health Staff Society.
Middlemore Hospital Photography Club was formed in 2007 in response to popular demand for a forum to share and learn photographic ideas and techniques. The Club welcomes photographers of all skill levels and is open to all CMDHB staff members and friends/family and membership is currently free.
