We have a range of jobs covering various professions, including clinical and technical roles, administration, and management. To see which jobs are currently available you can search through our current vacancies. You can search for jobs by ‘Keyword' (any word relevant to the job), by ‘Job Number' (if you know the reference number for the job you're looking for), or you can use the drop-down menus to find jobs that match your criteria.

How do I apply for a job?

Follow the instructions above for ‘How do I look for a job' if you're not sure which job you're looking for. Follow the on screen prompts to complete your application.

Do I need to complete an application form?

When you apply online you will be asked to complete a few questions as part of the application process. You will also need to attach a copy of your CV. That is all you need to do to apply for a job at CMDHB.

How do I see a job description?

Most of our jobs will have a job description attached as part of the online advertisement. Have a look through our current vacancies and see if the job you're interested in has a job description attached. If not, the advertisement will have the name of the Recruitment Consultant that you can contact and they will arrange to have a job description sent to you.

When will I hear back about my application?

You will receive immediate email confirmation that your application has been received. You will then hear back from us after the closing date for the vacancy. However, if you ever experience lengthy delays in communication - please feel free to contact our Recruitment Manager for urgent assistance.

There aren't any current jobs I'm interested in, can I give you my CV for future jobs?

Yes, please do! You can create a profile for yourself here on our careers site. You will then receive an email every time we have a vacancy that you might be interested in.

Working in Health

Who can I talk to about having a career in health?

Talking to people who know you is a good idea. Your friends, family and colleagues, or ex-colleagues can generally offer support and advice. People who are doing the work you are interested in are also good to talk to and give you information about their experience of the job. The people recruiting for positions have a good amount of knowledge about what is needed for each specific role and if you are still unsure, you can talk to a career professional. Career consultants are trained to offer expert guidance and information to support your career decision-making. If you are a CMDHB employee you can contact our in-house career consultant Joanna Budai or if you are not an employee yet you can contact Career Services by calling 0800 222 733.

Where can I find information about scholarships?

There are a variety of organisations that offer funding support for people wanting to train in the field of health. Click here to go to our scholarships page or you can also get information about other sources at the Career Services website.

Health Students

Do you have graduate or training programmes for health students?

Yes we do. Currently we run graduate programmes for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives, as well as internships for Clinical Psychologists. We also have training programmes for Anaesthetic Technicians, Sterile Supply Technicians, Ophthalmic Technicians and Cardiac Technicians. These will be listed with our current vacancies when they are available.

How can I find out about the most appropriate post-graduate study for me?

Talk to as may people about your plans as possible e.g. your manager, professional leader, team leader, nurse educator and/or colleagues. If you do not have a plan or are unsure about what direction you would like to take, you can contact our in-house career consultant Joanna Budai.

If you are a nurse here at CMDHB, Dianne Barnhill is a great person to talk to, for more information click here.

I'm currently studying to be a health professional. Do you have part-time/temporary jobs for students?

You can have a look at our current vacancies to see if we have any part-time or temporary jobs currently listed that you might be interested in. Wherever possible we will try to arrange the hours of work to suit your study time. If we don't have any jobs listed at the moment you can register yourself onto our careers site, or contact our Recruitment Centre to see if we can arrange for you to spend some time working in your area of interest.

Working at CMDHB

What is a DHB?

District Health Boards (DHBs) are responsible for providing, or funding the provision of, health and disability services in their district.
There are 21 DHBs in New Zealand. The statutory objectives of DHBs include:
• improving, promoting and protecting the health of communities
• promoting the integration of health services, especially primary and secondary care services
• promoting effective care or support of those in need of personal health services or disability support.
Other DHB objectives include promoting the inclusion and participation in society and independence of people with disabilities, reducing health disparities by improving health outcomes for Maori and other population groups, and to reduce toward elimination, health outcome disparities between various population groups.

DHBs are expected to show a sense of social responsibility, to foster community participation in health improvement, and to uphold the ethical and quality standards commonly expected of providers of services and public sector organisations.
Counties Manukau DHB (CMDHB) includes Middlemore Hospital, Manukau SuperClinic™, Franklin Memorial Hospital, and many other periphery sites. Please click here to view the CMDHB District Map.

I have a general employment enquiry but I'm not sure who to direct it to?

If your enquiry relates to a vacancy or working at CMDHB then please contact our Recruitment Centre.

If I have a question relating to hours, salary, or other terms and conditions, who do I ask?

The Recruitment Consultant who is recruiting for the position can answer your questions. You can find their contact details on the vacancy in current vacancies or contact our Recruitment Centre.

What is CMDHB's Leave Policy?

Leave provisions depend entirely on your current and future employment agreements. This is a great question to bring up at your interview or with your hiring manager if you are offered a position. As the Holidays Act 2003 states, in most cases any annual leave balance is paid out when an employee resigns so is not transferred between employers/DHBs.

Does the DHB grant study leave and/or pay for tertiary study?

The DHB does provide opportunities for study leave and tertiary support. Please discuss these arrangements with your potential manager.
