All Counties Manukau District Health Board facilities are smoke free.
As CMDHB services New Zealand’s fast growing population with its own specific health needs the demand for services and facilities at Counties Manukau is expected to increase. By 2020 the districts population is expected to grow by nearly 50% from 433,000 in 2005 to approximately 536,300 people in 2020. As a result, it is projected that inpatient bed numbers will grow from approximately 950 to about 1,500 in 2020. Outpatient attendances will grow from approximately 200,000 to 300,000 in 2020.
TOWARDS 20/20, a major long term investment project expanding and refurbishing CMDHB facilities and services aims to met the needs of our growing community by 2020.
To date we have completed the refurbishment of Radiology and CT and have opened a new Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Neonatal Unit, National Burn Centre and two new medical wards on Level 3 Adult Medical Centre. Ongoing projects include significant upgrades to all our community mental health facilities. A new Assessment Labour and Birthing Unit, Maternity Ward, Gynaecology Care Unit, Coronary Care and Step Down Unit, 2 x Surgical and 2 x Orthopaedic wards, realignment of our corridors, new Intensive Care Unit, new High Dependency Unit, refurbishment of theatres, expansion of outpatient facilities and services for the Manukau site and completion of a 6 storey Edmund Hillary Block are also complete.
Planning around our future growth and clinical and facility requirements over the next 12 years to 2020 continue to be a CMDHB priority.
